Well it’s Spring, which means if you live in Los Angeles, it practically feels like Summer! With baseball season’s opening day just around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about, what else? Hot Dogs!
Everyone has their favorite hot spots, but here are a few of mine…
Pink’s Hot Dogs:
709 N. LaBrea Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90039
Well, no Angelino is really official until they’ve eaten at Pink’s. My favorite happens to be the Martha Stewart dog and no, the corners of the bun aren’t tucked in hospital corners. With relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut and sour cream! How can you go wrong?
Carney’s Hot Dogs and Hamburgers:
8351 W. Sunset Blvd. W. Hollywood, CA 90069
My absolute favorite Chili Dog in the city can be found at Carney’s on the Sunset Blvd strip, or Ventura Blvd in Studio City. I don’t know how they found liquid silk to put in their chili, but what they make is nothing short of a chili-miracle! The smoothest most flavorful chili, just dripping with a thin layer of grease on top! Ahh! Top your hot dog with that and a small mountain of chopped tomatoes and cheese, and you’ll be in hot dog heaven!
Any Los Angeles resident will tell you that Los Doyers make a great hot dog. If you’re planning to be taken out to the ball game in the next few months, don’t forget some spare dinero for an ice cold beer and a Dodger Dog! This perfect 10″ ball park frank is packed with flavor and perfect to grab during the 7th inning stretch. Top it with some relish and mustard and the phrase, “I don’t care if I ever get back” will have a whole new meaning.
And then there’s the infamous…
Downtown LA Street Vendor Dog: (known to natives as the Death Dog)
Found on downtown street corners near Staples Center, or the USC Colesseum, every person should risk death at least once to try one of these bacon-wrapped babies. It’s seared to perfection and topped with grilled onions. This hot dog was recently named the official hot dog of Los Angeles!

*Another Happy Mouth favorite: (if you can find it!) The Kogi Truck. Visit their website and twitter to track the truck this weekend for scrumptious Korean BBQ/Mexican grub! Short Rib Tacos, Kimchi Quesadillas and much more! YUM!
